How to you go about quitting your job and getting paid to take care of elderly parents?

Elderly Care
Lalah’s Mommy asked:

They are not able to care for themselves any longer. I know that there is a program that will pay you to go about doing this. But just not sure where or how to start?

Job alternative: Cleaning houses or taking care of an elderly person?

Elderly Care
123456789! asked:

So, as you may be aware, most places aren’t hiring or will be soon. However, I really need the income as a highschool student preparing to pay for college. My mom helped take care of an elderly lady all throughout college to get extra money, and I’ve also heard of people being hired to clean houses by families. Where can I find these types of positions being advertised, or do people even do this anymore?

Dementia Care Homes - Things To Keep In Mind When Picking One

Dementia, which is a gradual loss of certain brain functions due to the onset of mental illness such as Alzheimer s, is a fairly common disorder in the elderly. Sufferers display symptoms like disorientation, lack of awareness of time, and memory loss, and thus they need to be cared for by trained professionals.

Care for dementia patients can be managed at home by availing the services of specially trained nurses who know how to look after such patients, or at an old age home providing specialised facilities for dementia sufferers.

It is not easy for the family members of a dementia patient to witness their grandparent or parent who slowly stops remembering his near and dear ones and does not connect with them any more. Moreover, it is not possible for the family to give full care to the patient at home as they will have other commitments such as jobs and children. In such a scenario, it may be a good option to place the patient in the care of staff at a dementia care home.

Nevertheless, you should be cautious when taking such an important decision in order to provide the most suitable care and treatment for the dementia patient - Visit residential care homes for more info.

It is necessary to take a personal tour of the dementia care home in order to examine it thoroughly and see what facilities it has for patients. The staff must have adequate training in dealing with dementia patients, and in helping them regulate their lives, like going to sleep at the right time, avoiding wandering, and remembering small day-to-day things. A lot of endurance must be displayed by those caring for people with dementia.

An ideal dementia care home must also allow patients to take part in productive and innovative programs that keep them involved in some communicative tasks so that the impact of the disease can be kept in check.

medical care for the elderly (anyone who is retired or on disability)should it be curbed?

Elderly Care
mad max asked:

I know they paid into the insurance through their taxes - but there are too many war babies. Perhaps limiting their care and just supply them pain killers is the answer.
